DESCRIPTION:Click here to get ticketsStep back in time with The Sealed Knot on a special anniversary…\nThe Sealed Knot return to Hartlebury Castle with an incredible Civil War battlefield brought to life! 2026 marks 375 years since the Battle of Worcester\, with commemorative events across the county\, as well as the 380th anniversary of the ‘Battle of Hartlebury’ when it fell to the Parliamentarians. There’s no better time to see this amazing re-enactment society in action – the largest in Europe! \nOn Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th July from 11am to 5pm\, bring along the whole family to our stunning Castle setting\, transformed so that you can experience the past. \nWitness the spectacle of the feature event at 2.30pm: The Battle of Hartlebury! Complete with infantry\, artillery and cavalry troops (up to 400 re-enactors)\, the Castle attempts to hold out for the King one final time in a thrilling Civil War re-enactment – including a march to the site that you can follow behind\, and a replica bastion built to scale. \nOther highlights to immerse yourself in include: \n\nMeet wonderful 17th century re-enactors as the Castle is taken over by soldiers and transformed into a Royalist garrison (as it really was during the Civil War)! Who do you support – the King or Parliament?\nExperience civilian life as the Carriage Circle becomes a living history camp showing period clothing and arms\, food preparation\, weaving\, woodcraft\, art\, games and more – find out what it was really like to live and fight in Worcestershire during the time.\nSee fascinating demonstrations of period weapons and tactics.\nHave a go with a pike and see if you’ve got what it takes to join the troops!\nMeet the cavalry horses.\nWatch a parade of 17th century fashion.\nGet stuck into hands-on activities and try dressing up for all ages.\nEnjoy amazing performance displays.\nWitness firing cannons!\nComplete fun children’s activity sheets and treasure hunts.\nDiscover living history displays on the ground floor of the historic Bishop’s Palace – watch out for Bishop Prideaux!\nBlow off steam in the adventure playground.\nAnd more!\n\nSchedule for the day (subject to change)\n11am – Living history camp opens \n11.30am – Infantry drill displays \n12pm – Have a go pike drill \n12.30pm – Have a go musket drill \n1pm – Feeding the regiment and sword display \n1.30pm – 17th century fashion parade \n2pm – Meet the cavalry \n2.30pm – Main battle \n4pm – Living history camp closes \nHartlebury Castle Trust is immensely grateful to Wychavon District Council for their suppport\, which has enabled this event to take place\, as well as to Visit Worcestershire for additional funding from the Civil War 375 Commemoration Fund. \nYou can also celebrate the Civil War anniversary at the Castle in the summer holidays with The Battle Plan Mystery Trail and Civil War Summer Crafts. \nSee what other exciting events are part of Visit Worcestershire’s Civil War 375 campaign here. \nTickets\nMoney from ticket sales is fundraising for Hartlebury Castle Trust. Historic Houses Member passes are not valid. You may bring picnics but do not bring your own alcohol. Hayley’s Kitchen café will also be open from 10am to 5pm. \nYou’re welcome to bring camping chairs to sit on during the battle.
