About the Play
Mrs Bennet, the unfortunate mother of several unmarried daughters of marriageable age, knows better than anyone that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. She is delighted to hear of the arrival of a new gentleman lodger, one Mr Bingley, to the local manor house. When eldest Bennet sister Jane catches Bingley’s eye, the course seems set, but sparks fly between her younger sister Elizabeth and Bingley’s enigmatic friend Mr Darcy, and their animosity threatens to upheave the lives of everyone around them.
One of the world’s most beloved love stories and Austen’s most enduring work, Pride and Prejudice is a timeless classic about the power of first impressions and the unlikely joys and sorrows of love.
