Head back to the 1940s and remember a special D-Day Anniversary with your visit.

Mark the 80th Anniversary of the June D-Day landings from 11am-4pm on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June as you learn about life in the 1940s.

See iconic vehicles from the time, enjoy 40s fashion, listen to the live Vintage Class Singers and interact with characters inspired by the period.

A Talk with Fred and Joan Caine – Saturday 15th, 2pm

Fred and Joan Caine will be kindly sharing their personal childhood wartime experiences and answering your questions at 2pm. Joan witnessed the bombing of her local town in Cheshire as a young child, and Fred has many local stories of the time as he was evacuated during the war from Smethwick to Bewdley.

A Talk with Betty Webb – Sunday 16th, 2pm

We’re delighted to be welcoming Betty Webb MBE to the Castle on Sunday, one of the last surviving female Bletchley Park code breakers. Join her for a talk at 2pm about her fascinating life, as well as her time at the top-secret base. She’ll also be spending time at the Castle during the day to answer your questions!

Vintage Class singers – Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th, 11am, 1pm and 2.30pm

Hear the Vintage Class singers, a fantastic group formed in 2015, specialising in songs from the 1940s, 50s and 60s. They have a mutual love of vintage tunes and a passion to keep alive the music of what they believe to be the golden era of song. Enjoy their timeless style and energy as they perform some of the best-known songs from the 40s!

Why not dress up in your favourite vintage outfit to look the part in this celebration of the 40s?

Get hands on with World War II history – have a go at rag rugging and play with 1940s toys.

Roleplay as an evacuee to the Castle as you write a postcard home, dress up and handle World War II related objects.

Don’t forget to meet Bessie the Cook to see what wartime favourites she’s been making!

History lovers will be fascinated by an array of memorabilia, displays and models – including one of the Normandy invasion itself. Plus, hear talks on the Second World War and learn about the 1940s nurses and Air Raid Precautions.

What’s more, visit on Father’s Day (Sunday 16th) and enjoy free entry for dads – with a paying child!

FREE ENTRY for dads on Father’s Day only when accompanying a child aged 5-100+ with a paid ticket. Passholders count as paid tickets.
