Watch an intimate performance of Shakespeare’s Hamlet in the Castle’s Medieval Great Hall!

Regarded as one of the greatest plays in the English language, Aethelflaed Theatre Company are delighted to offer this traditional candlelit production – directed by Naomi Coleman – in the beautiful historic setting of Worcestershire’s Hartlebury Castle.

As Prince Hamlet mourns the loss of his father, a royal wedding follows quickly at the heels of the royal funeral and, at most wicked speed, his mother marries his uncle; something is rotten in the state of Denmark! The crucial difference between that which is and that which seems to be holds the key for Hamlet, as he vows to avenge a murder most foul.

Recommended for ages 14+.

Reviews (from previous productions)

“Precisely and intelligently directed – Coleman’s latest production is a brilliant thing indeed.  5*.” – Isaac Milne, Things We Enjoy (review of Every Brilliant Thing)

“Coleman’s interpretation is confidently bravura, full-throated and satisfying at every pitch.” – Kyle Pedley, Stourbridge News (review of After The End)

“Coleman’s vision, coupled with the talents of her cast and crew, brought Shakespeare’s words to vibrant life. The laughter that echoed through the grounds, the gasps of surprise at the fairies’ antics, and the sighs of contentment at the play’s joyful resolution all combined to create a truly magical evening.” – Tim Ashton, Soulton Hall (review of A Midsummer Night’s Dream)
