The Duke’s Theatre Company presents MACBETH

The Dukes Theatre Company’s production of Macbeth offers a dynamic reimagining of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy. Known for their bold and innovative interpretations, the company brings a contemporary edge to the dark tale of ambition, murder, and madness.

Director Robert Shaw Cameron (Coronation Street, Regents Park Open Air Theatre, Sheffield Crucible) and designer Jessica Curtis (Hampstead Theatre, Almeida Theatre, Royal National Theatre) make a production with a cast of six industry leading actors. With a strong focus on the psychological unravelling of the protagonists, this adaptation takes The Duke’s into a new era of open-air Summer touring.

Macbeth is a tragedy by William Shakespeare that tells the story of a Scottish general. After receiving a prophecy from three witches that he will become the King of Scotland, Macbeth, driven by ambition and his wife’s encouragement, murders King Duncan to take the throne. His reign is marked by paranoia, guilt, and further violence, as he orders the murders of those who threaten his power. Eventually, Macbeth’s tyranny leads to his downfall, as his enemies unite against him and order is restored in Scotland.
