Experience the Civil War brought to life! The Sealed Knot are taking over Hartlebury Castle with over 300 re-enactors. Explore the living history encampment as you meet 17th century characters, enjoy demonstrations and discover Civil War life, including the chance to be a pikeman! Hear the clash of pikes, and sounds of muskets and canon fire as you witness The Battle of Hartlebury.
Join a hive of activity as you explore the Castle & Carriage Circle encampment of living history tents. Enjoy demonstrations of every day 17th Century life, including cooking, games and wood working. Speak to the encampment’s characters, as you watch fascinating demonstrations and discover more about living in the Civil War. Speak to off duty soldiers, try on their armour and learn more about life on the battlefield.
Demonstrations & Hands-on Drills
Watch on as the soldiers run their pike and musket drills at 12noon. Have a go yourself at being a pikeman, as your taken through the steps and battles manoeuvres – smaller pikes available for children to also have a go!
Re-enactment: The Battle of Hartlebury
Witness the spectacle of The Battle of Hartlebury! At 2.30pm, follow the Royalist soldiers as they march to the battlefield. Hear the clash of pikes and cavalry swords, alongside the booming sounds of musket and canon fire. Watch the skirmish, as The Sealed Knot talk you through the events and battlefield combat.

Enjoy a hands-on day out with the whole family! Alongside drills and demonstrations, meet 17th century characters, and have a chat with them as you find the answers to the children’s quiz around the encampment.

While you’re chatting to the re-enactors, take a break to explore the Bishop’s Palace & Worcestershire County Museum. Enjoy hands-on displays, fascinating stories and discover hidden rooms. Take a walk around the moat and let the kids expend some energy on the adventure playground.
